It’s hard to imagine in this age of cell phones that we could be unreachable anywhere on earth. Between faxes, email, satellite phone service, GPS locaters, it seems there’s nowhere on this globe left to hide. How is it then that we Christians spend so much time trying to hide from God? We hide behind our career, our finances, even, shamefully, our kids. God can’t expect us to neglect our children’s future soccer or singing careers just to volunteer at church, can He? Tsk, tsk. Imagine how many disciples Jesus would get if he stood and called out names beside the highway today. Would we hear him over the roar of the entertainment and our need to make money, to buy more things? Take a moment to see your life from a disciple’s point of view. Who is that shouting on the edges of your lake? Have you sailed on in your career/activities and left God standing on the shore calling your name? Stop your ceaseless rowing, drop the oars, the nets and listen. Can you hear Him?
